1/ Technopôle Brest-Iroise

Technopôle Brest-Iroise,Technopôle Brest-Iroise was established in 1988 for solid economic reasons – not just for its spectacular site. As a non-profit organization, it brings together 200 members from businesses to research centers, both private and higher education, as well as local and regional authorities.

All members share the same ambition: "developing and promoting innovation in our area".


As a bridge between research and industry in order to promote innovation in the area, Technopôle Brest-Iroise initiates and coordinates joint efforts to:

> launch new activities in our area centers of expertise,
> coach start-ups as they acquire business expertise and break into new markets,
> promote and expand the influence of the area and its civic leaders.

The driving force of the organization is threefold:
- Federate: to foster and strengthen centers of expertise.
- Animate: to create connections and publicize the resources and expertise in our area.
- Initiate: to coach new and innovative businesses

- Detection & initial evaluation of projects
- Detailed analysis & maturation of projects
- Financial & marketing development
- Assistance to the Business Plan realisation & support to the company’s establishment in the business incubator
- Enterprise follow-up (3 years post creation) Each year…
- 40 to 45 project developers followed-up
- 15 new businesses created approx.
- 50 young businesses followed-up
- Support to innovation & collaboration between research and SMEs

- Sciences and technologies of the sea (e.g. marine renewable energies)

- Information and communication technology sciences (e.g. geographical information systems)

- Life sciences (e.g. food-industry, health, biotechnologies)
